DJ CARMELA: DJ CARMELA BIO

Dj Carmela, was born and raised in Naples. She has approached hip-hop when in Italy it was almost unknown.

She started her career as a Dj along side with Lucariello, the famous Neapolitan rapper. Their showcases got the crowd hyped up and the presence of a female dj on the turntable did get a lot of attention.

In 2001 she had the chance to meet all the hip-hop celebrities because she partecipated to the "The source hip hop music Awards" (Miami)

Dj carmela, very keen in scratching and cutting up, started her career as turntablist, just like that. Vinylâ€™s lover, she landed to the cd players as well. From stage concert to club dj booth (supporter of artist such as Sottotono, Neffa, Wyclef, Dj Kool, JT Money, Fatman Scoop, La Famiglia, Capleton, Dj Tony Touch, Coolio, Moob Deep, DJ Camilo, DJ who kid)

Dj Carmela who is spinning all over Italy (Florance, Naples, Genoa, Milan, Rome, Naples, Bari, Bologna) with her dj set is able to satisfy and capture every kind of crowd, from the most picky people looking for that quality selection, to the ones simply looking for a hit to dance and an easy song to listen; from east coast style to west coast, stopping by the south style, from smooth and soft sound of R&B and soul, to the metropolitan sound of hip hop enriched with Dancehall rithyms. That's the melt that makes so catchy the whole sound of dj carmela. It's impossible standing still when dj carmela is on the wheels.

Dj Carmela, nata e cresciuta a Napoli,si avvicina alla musica hip hop quando in Italia il genere è pressocchè sconosciuto.

Nel 2001 ha la possibilità di stare a contatto con tutte le celebrità “hip-hop” partecipando ai “the source hip-hop music awards” (miami USA).

Inizia la sua carriera da Dj insieme a Lucariello, noto rapper partenopeo.

Le loro performances entusiasmano il pubblico e la presenza di una Dj donna ai piatti non passa inosservata. Dj Carmela abile nello scratch e nel cutting up inizia cosi la sua carriera come turntablist.

Amante dei vinili, approda anche ai cd player. Dalla consolle dei concerti a quella dei club (aprendo concerti di artisti del calibro di, Neffa, Wyclef, Dj Kool, JT Money, Fatman Scoop, La Famiglia, Capleton, Dj Tony Touch, DJ Camilo, Dj I-Roc,Coolio, Dj whoo d kid).Dj Carmela ormai una presenza costante sulle consolle di tutta la penisola(Firenze, Milano, Vicenza, Roma, Bologna, Napoli) con le sue selezioni riesce ad accontentare e a catturare ogni tipo di folla, da quella piu esigente ed alla ricerca di pezzi piu impegnati e per palati fini, al pubblico che è semplicemente alla ricerca di un pezzo da ballare e facilmente orecchiabile; dallo stile East Coast a quello West Coast, passando per il South Style, dai suoni morbidi e smussati dell’ r&b e del Soul, ad i suoni metropolitani dell’ Hip Hop, il tutto arricchito da ritmi Dancehall,

Raggaeton e Hip-House ritmi che si sposano bene con il tutto.

produzione musicale e scratch). Il cd ottiene ottime recensioni sul

“Corriere del mezzogiorno”.

“Spaccanapoli” (1997) con la band Clan Vesuvio (collaborazione alla

produzione musicale). Il cd ottiene recensioni sul “Mattino”,

“Corriere del Mezzogiorno” ed “AL” Aelle Hip Hop Magazine.

Dj Carmela ospite di vari programmi radiofonici e televisivi, ha anche sritto per giornali, possedendo una rubrica tutta sua, nella quale si potevano trovarè curiosità e news sul

genere musicale da lei suonato, amato e supportato.
